Hydrolyser or Resomator

Aquasolve developed and produces the hydrolyser (HDL). Our HDL can dissolve human and animal tissue in water and earth salts. This dissolution occurs through the chemical process of alkaline hydrolysis in which a cleavage of fat or an oil molecule is achieved under the influence of a base instead of water. The chemical process is also known as a water cremation or even resomerization.

Hydrolyser

The company that uses the term resomer to describe the chemical process uses the word resomator for its machine within which the process takes place. Aquasolve named its unit Hydrolyser.

Our Hydrolyser emits zero CO2. Aquasolve continues to invest in the (further) development of its hydrolysers to contribute to CO2 reduction and greenhouse gas reduction.

For example, Aquasolve has developed two variants of the hydrolyser. The HDL Bestia and the HDL Andron. With the HDL Bestia, animals are resomerized and with the HDL Andron, humans can be dissolved in water.

Alkaline hydrolysis, Resomerization and a Water Cremation

Our Hydrolyser uses the process known as alkaline hydrolysis. This takes place using water raised to temperature as well as the earth salt being the chemical potassium hydroxide. During the process, the pressure is neither increased nor changed. Thus, the process takes place under atmospheric pressure. During the process time of roughly 6 hours, the composition of water and a number of earth salts ensures the degradation of human and animal tissue in a dignified manner.

The hydrolyser is filled with the earth salts that are both acid and base along with the lifeless human body or animal cadaver.

Depending on the charged mass in the hydrolyser, the process time varies between 3.5 and 6 hours. After completion of this process time, only the bones and a liquid mixture (more often called effluent) remain. This liquid no longer contains any DNA material but consists only of naturally occurring elements.

Clean bones stripped of bone marrow

The patented composition of the chemicals ensures that the bones are clean and thus completely stripped of bone marrow and tissue. Of distinctive importance is also that the fatty parts including the brain are completely dissolved. Especially the fatty parts of human or animal tissue were a problem for Aquasolve in the past. Aquasolve has found a conclusive solution with adaptation of its patented process. The liquid maintains the same structure and composition in both cold and hot conditions! In the opinion of Aquasolve this makes it suitable to be disposed of via the drainage system and if this is not chosen, it can also be used as fertilizer or the liquid can be sprinkled at a desired location by the next of kin or the location the deceased himself has designated in advance.

CO2 reduction, sustainability and environment

Our hydrolysers operate entirely on electricity and emit no carbon dioxide (CO2). As researched -but also confirmed- by research institute TNO, this new technique of body delivery compares favorably with traditional burial and cremation in terms of sustainability. Through the process of alkaline hydrolysis, the body of the deceased is converted into a stable and fertile liquid with the bones remaining for the next of kin.

Using Aquasolve’s hydrolyser reduces the use of resources that are becoming increasingly scarce as the years go by. Less harmful emissions are also created. Emissions of harmful substances are many times lower than with burial or cremation. Moreover, the corpse burial on the sustainable Aquasolve method takes up less available space than is usual with burial.

Apart from sustainability, a high degree of safety is created through alkaline hydrolysis. Indeed, the process of body decomposition does not involve the release of substances harmful to humans and the environment because Aquasolve uses atmospheric pressure with temperatures below the boiling point. The alkaline hydrolysis process of the hydrolyser therefore takes place pressure-free and at low temperature so that a high degree of safety can be guaranteed. So not only environmentally safe, but also safety for the people who have to operate the hydrolyser.

Finally, there is guaranteed degradation of the body when using the hydrolyser. Dignity of the human body is again guaranteed. There is also no accidental mixing of bodies and their remains. During the process of hydrolyzing, there is no public observability of the degradation process and it takes place safely and closed. The integrity of body is guaranteed as well as the integrity of remains is guaranteed.
